About Us - What is Craniosacral therapy?
Permeating all the tissues and fluids of the body is a Vital Force known in Craniosacral Therapy as the 'Breath of Life'. The Breath of Life is the primary driving force around which embryological development occurs and continues to support cellular organisation throughout life. Thus it is thought to be an expression of Universal Intelligence at work within the individual organism. Every cell in the body pulsates as it takes up the potency of the Breath of Life.
At the core of the human system lies a unity of structure and function called the Primary Respiratory System which disseminates the Breath of Life throughout the body via the tide-like fluctuation of the cerebrospinal fluid.
The various rhythms and tides generated by the Primary Respiratory System are essential to the health and integrity of all the other body systems. Restrictions (whether physical, emotional or psychological) within the Primary Respiratory System or elsewhere in the body inhibit its capacity to take up the potency of the Breath of Life, thus diminishing our capacity for health and vitality.
A process-based approach to Craniosacral Therapy involves a deep exploration of the unique underlying causes of each individual's condition. Practitioners are trained to meet each individual in a way that is right for them rather than through imposing therapeutic agendas or protocols. Combined with a deep curiosity and an open heart, this approach allows these deeper issues to come to the surface, where they can finally be resolved.
