Training
The Two-Year Professional Training in Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy consists of 16 modules totalling 47 days.
Insights and research from other modalities are also drawn upon to inform and support an understanding of Biodynamic processes at work in the human system and the natural world we are a part of. These include recent developments in science and ancient understandings drawn from the spiritual traditions. The training also draws from pre and perinatal psychology, attachment theory and the work of Dr. Wilhelm Reich in the bioenergetic basis of emotion. This grounds students in an understanding of the role of early experience on health and well-being. Basic skills in working with shock and trauma are also introduced.
Students are encouraged to recognise and develop their own way of embodying the work as they move towards becoming practitioners. A strong emphasis is placed on developing the skills that are needed to work effectively in clinical practice in a way that is able to meet clients on a variety of different levels as is appropriate to their needs.
Practical experience in working with the public is integrated into the training in the second year in the form of teaching clinics. Students are invited to observe and participate alongside experienced tutors. This has proved to be invaluable in helping students to bridge the gap between the classroom and clinical practice. These clinics also enable to Institute to offer low-cost treatments to the public.
The teaching team consists of tutors and assistants with many years of therapeutic and classroom experience. The focus is on providing a safe and supportive environment in which learning can be an enjoyable and enriching experience. Class sizes are kept to a level at which the individual needs of students can be monitored and responded to in an effective and friendly manner.
The Institute also provides:
- The Holistic Body Training to support students in need of a greater understanding of anatomy, physiology and pathology. This includes an understanding of health and disease from both ‘conventional’ and ‘holistic’ perspectives.
- Refresher Days that are open to students and graduates who would like to refresh and deepen their acquaintance with various aspects of the training.
- A programme of advanced trainings to facilitate practitioner development. These trainings are open to all Craniosacral Therapists.
