Weekend 1
- Overview of the course and introduction to anatomical terminology
- The cell and cellular consciousness
- DNA, genes and epigenesis
- Immunity and natural health - allopathic & holistic approaches to health and disease
- Accumulation and discharge – skin, bowel, liver, mucous, emotions, behaviour
- Basic introduction to pharmacology
- Antibiotics and vaccinations
Weekend 2
- Introduction to connective tissues – bone, muscles, ligaments, tendons, fascia
- Bone tissue – living bone, ossification, basic structure, plasticity and piezo-electricity
- Joints – basic structure, function and classification, joint pulsing
- The muscular system – naming muscles, origin/insertion, actions etc.
- Myofascial system in health and disease
- The muscles and bones of the arm and shoulder girdle
Weekend 3
- Nerve tissue and organisation of the nervous system
- The brain and spinal cord – anatomy and developmental embryology
- The peripheral nervous system – major nerves, plexi and dermatomes
- The autonomic nervous system in health and disease
- The physiology of stress
- The spine and spinal vertebrae
Weekend 4
- The fluids of the body – blood, lymph etc.
- The heart and heart-brain connection
- The vascular system
- The respiratory system – the physiology and dynamics of breathing
- The skin – basic structure and function as a major organ of elimination
- The urinary system
- The muscles of the chest, back and neck
Weekend 5
- The special senses – the vestibular, visual, auditory, olfactory and gustatory systems
- Introduction to the cranial nerves
- The endocrine system
- The neuro-endocrine-immune system
- The muscles and bones of the leg and pelvic girdle
Weekend 6
- The gastro-intestinal tract and digestive organs
- Digestion and nutrition
- The reproductive system
- Pregnancy, foetal development and birth
